Somewhere

Carry me to a place where I can be

Who I am, and just for me

To sleep in maple leaves, so I can dream

Of somewhere that is nicer than my here

I’m in a bad place where the dark is freezing

And I am frozen deep within

The ghosts that I created drifting from me

But coming back at midnight when I sleep

Homesick for a home I’ve never seen

And down the rainy streets again

I disappear

A child curled up with honey-milk in hands

And honey lips, in morning air

To cast no shadow, but a scarlet tinted cloud

Above a place that’s nicer than my here

And rain across my windscreen like a whisper

A shape outside, fog over me

All my fingers feel is chilled winter steam

A light that leads me out into the sea

Homesick for a home I’ve never seen

And down into the water

Again I disappear
