A Children’s Song

Jump, little robin,

The fox’s lying still!

He clutches his pillow,

Too fat for the kill.

So go jump, little robin,

There’s a tree on the hill

Where you’ll flutter and chatter,

And maybe you will

Find a robinness

To spend hours of two

A response to your song – jump,

She’s waiting for you!

You’ll fill the treetops

With robins galore,

Each tiny and tasty

And dumb, I am sure.

When the fox comes awake,

He will only once yawn

To fill his whole belly

Right up with your spawn.

Now go jump, little robin,

Write your will on the leaves.

The fox’s getting hungry,

So prepare him his feast!
